The Emerging Electric Car Market & The Green Tech Vehicle Choices For The Consumer

Electric vehicles are gaining popularity, affordability and great performance!

Tesla Model S being Charged

This year has been very surprising for the electric car market. Many sales records for plug-in hybrids and electric cars have been broken month after month, with cars like the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt leading sales. On the luxury end of the spectrum, the Tesla Model S has been beating other similarly priced full-size fuel consuming luxury cars such as the Mercedes S class, BMW 7 series, and the Audi A8.

Next year should also bring many surprises in this market. Considering the sales numbers breaking records and rising, the fact that many manufacturers are preparing to unveil their own electric vehicles will definitely affect this emerging market. BMW is getting ready to release their small electric i3 next year, while Ford is preparing their own electric Focus, and Volkswagen about to release an electric version of their Golf.

As far as premium cars,…

there’s no shortage of those, with Tesla unveiling their Model X electric luxury SUV, plus Porsche and Cadillac coming out with their Panamera and ELR hybrids.

It seems as if the market is quickly filling up with plug in hybrids and full on electric vehicles for every class of vehicle. This is a far cry from only ten years ago, where the only mainstream hybrid would have been the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius, along with a small number of other minor vehicles. Now we are seeing cars that are compacts, sedans, luxury cars, SUVs, and even sports cars all in the field of electric cars. With sales growing, it’s going to be very interesting to see where all these companies go in the next couple of years. Are you ready to get your own “plug in” car?
