2015 VW Passat Quality Features

The 2015 Volkswagen Passat TSI carries over not too many changes from the previous year’s model, itself a face lifted version of the same car that has been on the market since 2006. The Passat takes this in stride, itself still being a very strong contender in the mid-size car market.

The 2.5 liter 5 cylinder motor that has been a VW standard for years has been phased out in the Passat, a new 1.8 liter turbo its replacement. It makes the same power as the 2.5, yet has a bit more torque and the advantage of a turbo. The 0-60 time with the 1.8T is 7.7 seconds, with it running the ¼ mile in 15.7 seconds. Not too shabby for a car of its size, and the low end torque the new motor provides is much welcomed also. A 280hp V6 is available which pushes the car to 60 in 5.7 seconds with a ¼ mile time of 14.5 seconds, giving the car very good performance for the price. A diesel TDI model is also available, boasting 150hp, a 0-60 time of 8 seconds, and highway MPG easily reaching 50…

The Exterior Of The Passat 2015

The exterior styling of the car, as with most VWs, Is sort of a subjective thing. The design is very much German car, without any overly flamboyant curves and edges and bulging headlights stretched across the face of the car. It is very much understated while being simple, and one can’t help but notice a resemblance to a more upscale Audi with its sharp styling.

The Interior Look & Feel of this VW Passat

The interior of the car carries the design of the exterior, itself being simple, straightforward, and undeniably German, with horizontal trim running across the dash and also on the doors. The base model Passat’s don’t have many gizmos in them, but there’s backup cameras, navigation and a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, rain sensing wipers and a bunch of other features that make the car a more luxurious place to be in. Leather seats and available wood trim among others are available also.  Of course, all these features push the car, which the MSRP of is $21,120, a little bit above $30k. This might seem like a lot, but considering the price of an entry level luxury car you can get a fully kitted Passat for the same price that has more features, and is likely just as fast (if not faster in V6 guise), then whatever entry level luxury car you put it up against.

The steering of the Passat is tight and precise, with handling only having a bit of noticeable roll. On the highway the car performs very well, with its solid steering making the car easy to control at highway speeds.

2015 Passat Mid-size Quaility & Drivability

As far as the mid-size car market goes, those prioritizing technologies and gadgets might want to overlook the Passat, however those looking for drivability and overall build quality may want to take a closer look at the Passat. Overall, the materials and fit and finish of this car make it feel as if it’s well put together, and although the Passat is made here in the US, the German engineering of VW still shines through. It might not have the most standard features in its class, but for those looking for German engineering and build quality that easily matches an Audi it’s a no brainer. This Passat is built to enjoy many miles on the road.
