Cadillac’s New CT6 Flagship – A new RWD full-size Cadillac with a turbo(s)!
Cadillac has always been known for their so called “land-yachts”, the big, long full size luxury cars that were always the flagship of the Cadillac line before the Escalade existed. Since Cadillac did away with the Fleetwood in the mid ‘90s, the full-size luxury car market has been dominated by the Germans, and increasingly so by both the Japanese and most recently Korea. Say what you will of any American luxury car, but none of them have been direct competitors to the Mercedes S classes and Lexus LS’s of the world.
The new CT6 seeks to fill in that long missing gap that’s been left, with dimensions that clearly make it a full-size car, and of course RWD. Not much has been revealed as of yet, however the President of Cadillac Johan De Nysschen has revealed that it will be offered with a lightweight body allowing it to be powered by anything from Cadillac’s 2.0T engine to a twin-turbo V8 that will eventually be offered. It’s going to be interesting to see how Johan, the former President of Infiniti, will evolve Cadillac. It seems that Cadillac is definitely headed in the right direction.
